And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my LORD:Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die:Behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live. Gen 19:17-20


Many Professing Christians today are like Lot.They want to walk with the Lord but they are not ready to completely destroy their ties with the world.

Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt.  Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.1 Sam 15:2-3

But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy them: but every thing that was vile and refuse, that they destroyed utterly.1 Sam 15:9

They are also like Saul.They ignore God's call to destroy all their sins. Instead, they keep alive the 'attractive' sins in their lives and destroy the ones that they find unattractive.

And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace.And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in the which Lot dwelt.And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain....Gen 19:28-30



God is not going to tolerate a half half Church. He requires complete obedience from His children.As can be seen from the verses above, even the 'Little city' that Lot ran into was eventually destroyed and he had to run to the very mountain that he originally refused to go to.

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 1 John 2:15

All our associations with the world no matter how insignificant they may appear to be would eventually become detrimental to our walk with God if we do not destroy them. All the little sins in our lives that we tend to overlook would eventually come back to haunt us if we do not get rid of them.


-And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.Rev 18:4
-A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.James 1:8
-And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.Hen 11:15-16
 

We must completely destroy our ties with the world and flee to Mount Zion the City of Holiness if we want to be saved from the fire of iniquity that is currently consuming the world.
